Asbestos Abatement Jobs
Because, asbestos removal is a very sensitive job (asbestos is a hazardous material, anyway), being an asbestos abatement worker isn't as easy as you may think it is. Actually those with asbestos abatement jobs, follow two procedures before starting their main duty. First of course, they ask civilians to leave the contaminated area immediately. After which, they remove all the furniture and fixtures that are also in or near the area.
The difficulty of this job comes in the second procedure. Asbestos abatement workers need to build a foundation that will ensure that no asbestos fibers will be released into the atmosphere during the process of removal. To do this, they construct a "containment area" -- a space covered with heavy polyethylene plastic. This area will guarantee that asbestos won't contaminate other areas in the neighborhood.
Regardless of whether the contaminated area is located indoor or out, the “airlock” principle still applies. There should also be a water spray bottle and clean wet rags in the area. Thoroughly wetting the material with asbestos insures that the asbestos fibers it contains will not enter the air.
And one last thing, after the removal, workers are expected to dispose also the equipments, gears and clothing they've used in the process along with the contaminated material.
